Private Practice for Associate Clinicians
We partner with prelicensure clinicians, enabling you to work in a private practice setting while you earn your independent license.
Prelicensure (associate) clinicians typically require supervision for about two years of full-time employment before they are able to work independently.
During this time, they are often underpaid post-graduates struggling to make ends meet.
We’ve been there, and we want to help.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes! You can work in a private practice setting with some restrictions: generally, you must be a W-2 employee and provided supervision from the employer.
The Clinical Collective will partner you with an experienced clinician, who will provide supervision and serve as your employer (even part-time).
There is no requirement for you to work for a large hospital system or to be underpaid. You are allowed to have input into your clients, treatment modalities, and experience gained through your prelicensure period.
-
Yes. Our associate clinicians often work full-time jobs elsewhere and join The Clinical Collective to increase their income, broaden their knowledge base, and expand their professional network.
-
Increased income and variety of experience are some of the biggest advantages to working with TCC. Our clinicians expand their knowledge base and gain exposure to different client populations, diagnoses, and treatment modalities.
Additionally, you’ll learn what it takes to start an independent private practice and have access to a network of resources and colleagues which can be extremely beneficial upon licensure.

We’re clinicians, and we’ve been exactly where you are - excited about graduating, working on our hours, learning as much as we can - but struggling to make ends meet. With student loans coming due and low starting salaries, we found some places wouldn’t even hire us until we obtained full licensure.
Even worse, some employers offer such limited training and experience that our options were limited even though we’d gotten a few years of experience and passed our licensing exams.
We want to change this - by providing opportunities for varied experience and better training, and by helping our new colleagues get a head start on their careers.
